Speaker Series #1 Shooting Incident Reconstruction
We are pleased to announce our first speaker series. The first topic is Shooting Incident Reconstruction. Have you ever wondered how the professionals determined the who, what, when, where and how of a shooting incident? These questions are answered through the use of investigation evidence, eyewitness testimony, math, science, physics, firearms operations, published data, experiments, coroner reports, and synthesis. Two of the primary tools used included ballistic trajectories and ejection of fired casings.
In general, crime labs do NOT perform these kinds of reconstructions. For the most part, the crime labs collect data. The data involves bullet hole summary, including direction of impact, angle of impact, and sometimes the final trajectory at impact. Fired casing locations are identified. Shooting reconstruction on the other hand uses REVERSE TRAJECTORIES and EJECTION PATTERNS to determine the location and actions of the shooter at the time of the incident.
Dr. Bruce Krell performs reconstructions on actual cases in the criminal courts. He has examined over 100 shooting incidents involving multiple murders, single murders, attempted murders, and assaults with a deadly weapon. He has testified extensively in over 35 of these cases. His cases mostly occur in Southern California, but he has had Federal cases and cases all over California, the state of Washington, and the state of New Mexico. He has about 20 ongoing cases at any time.
Everything you will learn comes from real cases. It is the closest you will get to CSI. You will not want to miss this special Speaker Series.
