Chemical Industry Outreach Workshop

Multi-Purpose Room, 106 Durley Ave., Camarillo, CA 93010
Who Should Attend:
Anyone with an interest in the threat posed by improvised explosives and the chemicals used to manufacture them.
Attendees will receive lectures in the morning on the emerging threat posed by improvised explosives. Presentations will cover Weapons of Mass Destruction Awareness, Intelligence and Improvised Explosives briefings. After lunch, students will witness a live explosives demonstration, including numerous improvised explosives, most of which can be mixed using common household chemicals. This demonstration is designed to underscore the potential danger of these chemicals, both in the hands of terrorists as well as novice experimenters.

Cameras and video equipment will be permitted during the range demonstration, but not in the classroom. Photographs and videos are limited to private use only.
Directions: Please see below for directions to the Ventura County Criminal Justice Training Center. Please park in the dirt lot across from the training center. Do NOT park in the asphalt parking spots, these are reserved for Training Center personnel and recruits. Please be aware that this is an active academy and we are guests at their facility. Directions to the range will be provided at the workshop.

- Lunch will be on your own. There are several nearby options at the outlets and local shopping center.
- Please bring sunglasses for eye protection on the range.
- Please wear appropriate closed toe shoes for the range activities.
- Please prepare for any weather on the range. Bring a hat, sunscreen and water in case of hot weather.
